What is skee yee?

Skee-Wee (often stylized as Skee-Yee or Skee-Wee!) is the call of the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. It's a unique sound, a high-pitched ululation, used to express joy, excitement, recognition, and sisterhood. The origin of the call is debated, but is generally believed to be derived from sounds and songs from the organization's founding at Howard University. The Skee-Wee is sacred to AKAs and is a key component of their sorority culture.

It's important to note that the Skee-Wee is not to be used or imitated by those who are not members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Its use by non-members is considered disrespectful and appropriation of a cherished symbol of the sorority.
